Swine Flu Delay Phase 5 – Stock The Pantry
May 1st, 2009 by squizzmaster

Scare us much?
So now the government is suggesting all Australians stock up on a list of essentials in preperation for a 14 day stay at home. The swine flu list consists of the items you would expect in any armageddon inspired shelter.
Phase 5 Swine Flu Shelter List
- Three litres of water per day of isolation
- I’m assuming per person
- My household has 3 persons
- So per day that’s 9 litres of water
- For 14 days, that would be 126 litres of water
- Time to get a tank
- Dried and long-life food
- Canned Beans
- Canned Spaghetti
- Canned vegetables
- instant noodles. Many different flavours if you have access to an Asian supermarket
- Speaking of Asian,
- Add dried mushrooms to the list
- Lots of Rice
- Pork Floss (it’s dried and shaved Pork and great on rice for a snack)
- Beef Jerky
- Quick Oats (just add water and microwave)
- Canned fruits (I add canned berries to uncle toby’s quick oats in the morning)
- Crackers and other dry biscuits
- Chips
- Chocolate
- Toilet paper
- Splurge on something nice to make your stay at home as comfortable as possible. 3 ply strong and soft
- Batteries
- I think a torch that requires winding or solar power to power would be very helpful if we’re expecting power outages. You could probably pick one up for around $20
- Candles
- And that wind up/solar power torch
- Matches
- And lighters. They’re very easy to use and with the stress of it all, could be a good time to take up smoking again
- Manual can openers
- A must, for all that canned food
- Water sterilising tablets
- I don’t even know where you get these from. Pharmacy?
- Analgesics
- As in pain killers like panadol and the like, an Australian home remedy staple.
- My chinese med mate insists on paracetemol dissolved in water as apposed to tablets swallowed
- Masks
- Pharmacies and chemists I guess
- Gloves
- Pharmacies, chemists, hair shops like petra
- A thermometer
- Disinfectant
- Prescription medications
