What Colour Should Your Urine Be?

What Color Is Healthy?
I’ve always had a thing for staying hydrated and how important it is to functioning optimally. Urine is a good indicator of how hydrated you are. Rule of thumb is, a LIGHT YELLOW color indicates you are properly hydrated.
- A Darker Yellow colour indicates that you are dehydrated and should drink more water. However, it can also be a side effect of medication and it’s quite normal for urine to be darker in color in the morning upon waking. It can also be a result of other things like vitamins and some of you out there might be familliar with the fluorescent post “Berocca” pee.
- Clear Urine with no colour indicates you may actually be too hydrated and lacking electrolyte content, a side effect usually only thought of when being dehydrated. I was always ignorant being too hydrated and drinking too much water. People have died from drinking too much waterand I’m not just talking about ravers.
- Other colours like Brown or Cloudy may be the result of other problems (e.g. infection) that may be worth consulting your GP about.
