Negative Ions Are Positive

Confused? Fair enough. By positive I mean good and by negative, I mean negatively charged molecules in the air. Still confused? First let me tell you why I’m writing this. It’s because of the salt rock lamp. They’ve been around for a few years already but I’ve only stumbled upon them from girls talking to me about them, one including my housemate. They are made from lightening hitting salt in the earth or something like that and producing this salt covered rock that is carved and cored. Inside the core a light globe is placed and it’s the heating from this light globe that is supposed to create negative ions. Why are negative ions a positive (good) thing?
Apparently, they are what are found in nature like near waterfalls and the ocean and induce good feelings and moods. Positive ions are found in areas polluted and produced by electrical appliances. The salt lamp is designed to pump more negative ions into the air and hopefully produce a predominately negative ions environment.
Many claim negative ions wonderful healing and therapeutic qualities and cleanse the air. I don’t know about that, but we have one in our house and the air does seem fresher. The light is nice and I could taste salt on my lips from the air which was cool. Especially for the geeks out there who have computers on in their bedrooms often, I strongly recommend it.
